Akademik Lomonosov Floating Nuclear Power Plant to be hauled to Murmansk
In the turbine island of Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant (FNPP) one of the two turbines of power unit (FPU) was put on the turning gear.
The putting of the turbine on turning gear is one of the most important stages of the FPU preparation for operation. The main purpose of this technological operation is to check the assembly accuracy and alignment all elements of wheel space, as well as compliance of its axes with the turbine generator gear. The putting of the first turbine on the turning gear shows the high technical readiness of the turbine generator and its auxiliary systems for the further mooring tests execution.
By the end of this year it is planned to carry out the same operation with the second steam-turbine plant of the FPU of the floating nuclear power plant. Then, the FPU system and equipment tests at the design parameters will be continued.
After the completion of all mooring tests and execution of works on the FPU preparation for transportation it will be hauled to Murmansk at the site of Atomflot FGUP in spring 2018. And in autumn 2018 the nuclear fuel will be loaded into the reactor and the FPU will be physically launched.
The floating power unit (FPU) Akademik Lomonosov of 20870 project is designed for the operation as a part of the Floating Nuclear Power Plant (FNPP). The FPU has 2 steam-generation units with KLT-40S reactors with the capacity of 35 MW.
This main project of the serial mobile movable low-powered power units for supply of the energy to the large industrial enterprises, port cities, complexes for the oil and gas extraction and processing at the sea shelf
