A unique dredger at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant
«Watermaster Classic» a multipurpose unique dredge of IV Generation is put into operation in the water area near the Kursk nuclear power plant (NPP). There are no analogues to this dredge at any enterprise of the JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom».
The dredge will serve to perform a variety of hydraulic engineering works. It can independently move on land, enter and exit water without the help of a special crane or auxiliary vessels, perform operations at a depth of up to 6.5 meters or ashore. The innovative device is able to move about 600 cubic meters of water-mud mixture per hour to a distance of up to one and a half kilometer due to its high productivity.
«Using this unique device removes such limitations in operation as shallow water, inaccessibility and water level differences in waterbodies, and the richness of the engineering and transport infrastructure. Its capability to cut and remove bottom deposits and garbage will help to constantly improve the ecology of our technical reservoir, and due to the purity of water the electricity generation increases», Alexander Uvakin, the Kursk NPP Chief Engineer, noted.
Kursk NPP is the largest generating power source in western Russia. It is a part of Rosenergoatom Concern in the electric power division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM.
