Quantum phone was tested in the Moscow State University
Researchers from the Moscow State University (MSU) and «Infotecs» company announced the successful testing of a quantum phone. It will be used in the MSU in the future.
The prototype phone consists of client computers and a server that is used for the quantum distribution of encryption keys. «The workplace of a quantum phone is a personal computer with an optoelectronic module, connected by an optical fiber directly to the server of quantum key distribution», Sergey Kulik, head of the Quantum Optical Technologies Laboratory, told.
According to the «Infotecs» press service, work on the prototype creation began in December last year. Scientists intend to create devices to encrypt large amounts of traffic next year.
«Due to the quantum keys distribution, communications by the telephone are absolutely protected from auditions and interceptions», the MSU press service explained.
