Russian Helicopters to test Ka-226T in Iran
The light helicopter Ka-226T is being tested in Iran. Renewal Company (IHSRC) and the Iran Helicopter Support are participating in the testing. «The Ka-226T helicopter has already arrived in Iran and has started the first test flights,» the Rostec press service said.
The main purpose of the tests is to find out its usability at extremely high temperatures typical for the Middle East countries. «Testing of the Ka-226T in the extreme climatic conditions of Iran will make the helicopter even more attractive for the potential operators not only in this country but also throughout the Middle East,» said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of Russian Helicopters.
In the future, «Russian Helicopters» intend to organize a conference for Middle Eastern specialists from the aviation industry in Iran.
«Russian Helicopters» and Renewal Company (IHSRC) signed in May a memorandum on the assembly plant establishment in Iran.
The Ka-226T is being produced since the second half of the 1990s. Its maximum takeoff weight is 3.6 t, and it is able to transport up to 1 t of payload or 6 people. «Rostec» previously signed an agreement with India on the batch of helicopters supply and assembly on the Indian territory.
«Rostec» is a Russian state corporation established in late 2007 to promote development, production and export of hi-tech industrial products for civil and defense sectors.
Russian Helicopters, part of State Corporation Rostec, is one of the global leaders in helicopter production and the only helicopter design and production powerhouse in Russia. Russian Helicopters was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Moscow.
