Scientists from the Moscow Aviation Institute plan to produce meteorological probe-quadcopters
Students from the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) developed a project for meteorological measurements, that got a grant of one million rubles.
Dar’ja Perepeljuk and Viktorija Bojarshinova — the MAI students — have created the «Ecomonitoring» probe. The device is capable of measuring air temperature, humidity, CO concentration and pressure. Information from the probe is transmitted to the receiver on the ground. Using the probe one can monitor the environmental situation around enterprises, review weather conditions around the runways and lanes, and estimate the polluting gases amount in the cities.
The device has a flexible configuration and is equipped with hardware depending on the tasks. The probe has already been tested in conditions close to real ones. In future, the university expects to produce quadcopters in small batches. The need for devices is estimated at 120 pieces per year.
