The first reactor vessel of the «SIBERIA» icebreaker is assembled
The most complicated operation to assemble the first reactor vessel of the «RITM-200», designed for the universal nuclear icebreaker «Siberia» is completed. Specialists of the ZiO-Podolsk plant — which is a part of Rosatom Atomenergomash (AEM) — welded 12 steam generators cassettes to the flange zone. The cassettes, each weighing one and a half tons, are successfully combined with the seats with a tolerance of one-hundredths of a millimeter.
The «RITM-200» power plant, whose service life is 40 years, includes two 175 MW thermal reactors. Now the first reactor vessel is being prepared for hydraulic testing.
Atomenergomash enterprises provide a complete production chain for the development of the «RITM-200» nuclear engine — from the design and production of blanks to the manufacture and installation of equipment. Designer and supplier is I. I. Afrikantov OKB Mechanical Engineering (Russia).
