The Kalashnikov Concern presented an electronic weapon against unmanned vechicles
The «Kalashnikov» Concern, part of the «Rostec» corporation, demonstrated an electromagnetic gun that can block the signals of navigation systems coming to the unmanned vehicle.
Electromagnetic weapon is called REX 1. It looks like a firearm. The transmitter can suppress signals of GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo navigation systems at a distance of about five kilometers, the press service of the corporation said. Besides, the weapon can block the GSM signals.
«The REX 1`s task is not to let the unmanned trespasser into the protected object. The device loses its connection with the remote control and smoothly lands», the «Rostec» press service explained. This weapon may be used to neutralize explosive devices that are controlled by GSM signals.
The internal battery allows the device to block signals for three hours. REX 1 can additionally be equipped with sights and designators.
The «Kalashnikov» Concern is one of the largest arms manufacturers in Russia headquartered in both Izhevsk (Udmurtia, Russia) and Moscow that produces a wide range civilian and military weapons including assault and sniper rifles, guided artillery projectiles and a wide range of other precision weapons. The majority of civilian products includes hunting shotguns, sporting rifles, various machines and tools.
«Rostec» is a Russian state corporation established in late 2007 to promote development, production and export of hi-tech industrial products for civil and defense sectors.
